Gene Details:
- Gene ID: Seita.9G180100
- Gene Symbol: SiGFT1
- Gene Name: glutamate formiminotransferase 1
- Genome:
- Species: Setaria italica
Functional Descriptions:
- Nullification of GFTs fortifies bioactive folates in foxtail millet.
- Two plants harbored a 1-bp insertion (#1) and a 6-bp deletion (#8), in the second exon of SiGFT1, leading to a premature termination of translation or deletion of two amino acids, respectively.
- The two other knockout plants carried a 1-bp insertion in SiGFT1 and a 2,946-bp deletion between the two sgRNAs that removed part of SiGFT2 (#11) and a 1-bp insertion in both SiGFT1 and SiGFT2 (#13); both combinations were predicted to successfully inactivate SiGFT1 and SiGFT2 simultaneously.
- SiGFT1, are essential for MeFox biosynthesis in vivo, offering a means to block MeFox formation in vivo by genetically inactivating SiGFTs.
