Germplasm Phenotype:

  • CS206  — altered fatty acid metabolism, no other phenotypic effect.
  • CS23879  — Leaves lack any detectable amounts of the unsaturated 16-carbon fatty acids, 16:1 delta 7, 16:2 and 16:3 fatty acid methylesters. The mutant leaves also have increased levels of 16:0 fatty acid methylesters. This phenotype is the fad5-2 mutation based upon similarity to the fad5-1 phenotype in the literature.
  • fad5-3  — fad5-3 single mutant similar to other fad5 alleles. Altered fatty acid metabolism.
  • fad5-3/crl  — The suppressor of crl 4, spcrl4 (crl/fad5-3) shows pale leaves with improved morphology alongwith abrogation of cell deatrh phenotype of crumpled leaf mutnat (crl). Loss of CRL leads to altered leaf morphology, pale leaves, small stature and localized cell death. The FAD5 deficiency in crl, abrogates the cell death and improves leaf morphology and plant stature but have more paler leaves.
