Gene Details:
Functional Descriptions:
- Identify TaMs5 as a glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored lipid transfer protein required for normal pollen exine development, and by transgenic complementation demonstrate that TaMs5-A restores fertility to ms5.
- Wheat ms5 male-sterility is induced by recessive homoeologous A (TaMs5-A) and D (TaMs5-D) genome non-specific lipid transfer proteins.
- Our data demonstrate that the transformed copy of the 3A LTP was functional and able to restore fertility to homozygous ms5a male-sterile plants. We designate this gene and its homoeologs TaMs5-A, TaMs5-B and TaMs5-D.
